'Doctor Strange' spoilers: Benedict Cumberbatch working out for the part; Doctor Strange may appear in 'Iron Fist'

(Marvel)Benedict Cumberbatch stars as Doctor Strange.

"Doctor Strange" is, arguably, one of the highly anticipated movies of 2016. Marvel Studios ushers in its third cinematic phase after the events of "Captain America: Civil War" when Captain America dies as a result of Tony Stark aka Iron Man. Marvel Studios had previously announced that Stephen Strange will be played by "Sherlock" star Benedict Cumberbatch.

Franchise Herald reports that filming is set to begin in November and that director Scott Derrickson is currently scouting for locations to shoot the film in New York City. Derrickson is on the lookout for buildings that Strange can inhabit in the movie. Following that, the production team will head to London to undergo the principal photography for "Doctor Strange". Once photography is completed, Benedict is scheduled to commence filming.

The 38-year-old actor has expressed his excitement to several publications on his upcoming Marvel role. The actor is also bulking up prior to shooting the movie, reports Metro. The Oscar-nominated actor has hired a personal trainer and works on his body for several hours every day. Cumberbatch is also consuming double the calories and aiming for a ripped figure. Comic book fans are well-aware that Stephen Strange appears to have a heavy build, hence, Cumberbatch must achieve the appropriate look.

The actor will be joining bulky Chris Hemsworth and broad-chested Chris Evans in the list of actors of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Meanwhile, speculations are rife that Benedict Cumberbatch will appear in Marvel's "Iron Fist" series on Netflix. Design & Trend states that there is rumor that the British actor will play a small role in the Marvel TV series. "Iron Fist" is the last of the four Netflix shows (other three are "Daredevil", "A.K.A. Jessica Jones" and "Luke Cage") that will culminate into the "Defenders" miniseries.

"Doctor Strange" will tell the origin story of neurosurgeon Dr. Stephen Strange who discovers the world of magic and alternate dimensions following a horrific car accident. Benedict is set to don the traditional costume and face-off against the compelling flame-headed villain Dormammu and his partner Baron Mordo.

"Doctor Strange" hits theaters on Nov. 4, 2016.
