He continued, "The time will come when Drake's ready to pull the trigger, but for us it's just a balance of finding that space to make such a project that's based around our city, and then also we come out here and escape some of the harsh winter and find a good creative space."

Drake announced the making of this album in 2014, 10 months after the preceding one, with speculation that the album was to have reflective tones of his hometown Toronto. It has taken quite a stretch of time to get where it is now. "Views from the 6" is the rapper's fourth full-length album, following the last which was "Nothing Was the Same." All throughout the making, Drake has been updating his fans over social media channels.

In order to get this close, Drake has reportedly been locked inside his studio in the past month with Shebib for company, completing the album and putting in the finishing touches. Drake filled in his fans declaring on the Verge, "I'll give you a date later on, just know that we're working. We're working."

The album also features other artists who collaborated with him in "Views from the 6," namely Beyonce, Willow Smith, Will and Jada Smith's daughter, and his producers, Shebib and Bol-1da.

Drake, a Canadian songwriter besides being a rapper and actor, first became popular on the television series "Degrassi: The Next Generation," playing the role of Jimmy Brooks. Later on, he rose prominently when he became a rapper, releasing several mixtapes, then signed on with Young Money Entertainment in 2009. He has produced Billboard Hot 100 songs as "Best I Ever Had" and "Find Your Love," among others.

He has earned a Grammy, three Juno awards, six BET awards, and a slew of Billboards chart records. He produces records under the pseudonym Champagne Papi and also writes songs for artists like Alicia Keys and Jamie Foxx.

On Jan. 30, he released "Summer Sixteen," the first single from the upcoming album "Views from the 6."
