The Lyons will be roaring back when Fox's "Empire" returns for another season of drama and music.

The first season ended with the main Lyon, Lucious (Terrence Howard), in jail after being charged with murder. The running of his empire has been left to his son Jamal (Jussie Smollett). When the second season starts, viewers will learn if Jamal can hold on to the family's music empire. Or as showrunner Danny Strong succinctly said "just because you get the empire doesn't mean you get to keep the empire."

But do not expect over the top drama and complications in the second season. During the ATX Television Festival Panel, Strong admitted that the show is "going to continue the story and be truthful to the story." That does not mean the next season will be slow and boring though.

According to executive producer Wendy Calhoun, the show will instead be using a lot of flashbacks to help viewers understand the Lyon family better. It was something that actress Taraji P. Henson, who plays family matriarch Cookie, requested.

Henson explained to "Delaware Online" that the flashbacks will give viewers an idea at how Lucious became what he is. Fans have also been asking "what happened with Cookie in the 17 years she was locked away from her family?" Hopefully, the flashbacks will answer those questions.

The show's producers are admittedly looking forward to the flashbacks and are certain fans will too. Another thing that the show's fans can get excited over is "Magic Mike's" Adam Rodriguez joining the cast. The "CSI:Miami" alum talked to "Access Hollywood Live" about his upcoming role as Cookie's love interest and pointed out that Howard's Lucious should have treated Henson's character "like the wonderful woman that she is." And it seems that his character Laz Delgado knows how to do just that.

"Empire" is slated to start production this week and already the show is having a major impact on Chicago. The city is already enjoying the buzz the series is bringing and citizens believe that the next season would bring even more changes.

"Empire" season two is set to return to TV on September 23, 2015.
