Fifth Harmony new album updates: '7/27' release date and album details — what you need to know

Fans are already looking forward to Fifth Harmony's next album drop. The all-girl group announced on Instagram their new album titled "7/27" last week, along with its release date.

"We know there has been a lot of talk, but we wanted you to hear this from us... #WorkFromHome coming Feb. 26th. Our new album 7/27 is coming May 20th," the group wrote. They even performed "Work From Home" during "LIVE with Kelly and Michael's" for the post-Oscars party.

"Work From Home" has been very well received, so it's expected that the entire album will be much better than the previous one. In addition to a bass-heavy single, "7/27" also features some of the hottest artists of today. In 2015, Dinah Jane Hansen revealed to SPIN that Nicki Minaj, J. Cole, and Big Sean could be collaborators of the album.

The ladies can also call out to some of the big names in the industry to write songs for their album, but they decided to be hands-on.

Hansen and Lauren Jauregui are contributing songwriters for the album, MTV reported. Both members may have taken a break in songwriting in their first full-length album "Reflection," but they will be back to use their songwriting abilities. Fifth Harmony also had Tinashe on board to co-write several tracks in the album.

Fifth Harmony decided to call their upcoming album "7/27" because it was the date that the group formed in "X-Factor." The name adds a personal touch to their project.

So what makes "7/27" different from "Reflection"? Hansen shared that the new album contains more mature songs.

"We've definitely matured and grown in the last year, compared to our Reflection album. It's more edgy and I feel we had more of a voice," Hansen told Billboard. She added, "We were included in the project — that's what we always wanted and we've finally been given the opportunity."
