'Frozen 2' Plot, Cast And Release Date: Feature-length sequel won't hit theaters until 2018

Very rarely does Walt Disney create a full theatrical sequel for its animated movies, especially for one as successful as "Frozen", the highest grossing animated movie of all time. Fans are in for a treat as "Frozen 2" will be the first sequel produced by Walt Disney Animation Studios to hit the theaters since the 1990s "Rescuers Down Under".

With three films due to be released before "Frozen 2", the sequel reportredly will not be releasing before 2018. To be more specific, "Frozen 2" could be released towards the end of 2018 to make way for another movie scheduled to be released early that year, the "Jack and the Beanstalk" inspired "Giants". For eager fans, Walt Disney is scheduled to release two animated movies next year, "Zootopia" and the newest Disney princess "Moana."

Kristen Bell and Idina Menzel will reprise their roles as the voices behind Princess Anna and Queen Elsa respectively, as stated in a report by Telegraph, along with Josh Gad as the voice of Olaf. A tweet from Jennifer Lee also confirms that she will return to direct the much awaited sequel.

Rumors are circulating around the net about the film's possible plot points. The rumors include a love interest for Elsa and the origin of her powers, Anna's possible powers herself, and even the appearance of Jack Frost that fans have been hoping for. There are also rumors about a possible new look for Anna and Elsa, and a duet as a central song comparable to the award winning "Let It Go" from "Frozen."

The composers Robert Lopez and wife Kristen Anderson Lopez, who won an Oscar for their work with "Let It Go", are poised to return for the feature-length sequel, though this has not yet been openly confirmed. The couple also composed the song "Making Today a Perfect Day" from Frozen's short animated sequel, "Frozen Fever" which received mixed to positive reviews as a competent and catchy piece, though not as sensational as "Let It Go."

"Frozen 2" will be the 58th movie in the Disney animated canon and the first feature-length sequel for a Disney animated movie in more than two decades.
