While followers of the long-running TV series, "Grey's Anatomy," are definitely bummed to see the last of Patrick Dempsey's McDreamy last season, their disappointment does not hinder their excitement for season 12.

The premiere of the series' return is scheduled for September and while it is only a few months away, not a lot of information about the plot has surfaced. The storyline is cloaked in so much mystery that even the cast of the show have remained in the dark.

Thankfully, one of the main cast members has shared what she thinks and hopes would happen for her character in "Grey's Anatomy" season 12.

"Grey's Anatomy," which first debuted a decade ago in 2015, is a medical drama television series produced by famed showrunner, Shonda rimes. It follows a group of surgical interns and residents as they make their way toward becoming full-fledged doctors at what was initially, Seattle Grace Hospital.

The show currently has eleven seasons under its belt — most of which are not only critically acclaimed but are also ratings darlings. Since its inception, "Grey's Anatomy" has been nominated for several awards, ultimately winning 2005's Golden Globe best series award.

Season 11 saw the tragic death of one of the most beloved characters, Derek. While his passing away certainly upheld the somber tone of the season, the twelfth installment of "Grey's Anatomy" still ended with a happy note with Richard and Catherine tying the knot in the hospital's chapel.

However, it seems like this would not be the last wedding that would be featured in the show or at least Camilla Luddington, the actress playing Jo, hopes.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the 31-year-old UK native gushed about how she expects Jo and Alex's relationship to progress. She said:

"As for next season, toward end of the season, I'd love for Alex and Jo to be engaged. They've jumped over a lot of hurdles in their relationship. I was waiting to break them up! I feel like if they're going to continue in this direction that would be nice if they got married and at some point down the line even had kids."

"Grey's Anatomy" would be back for its twelfth season on Sept. 24, 2015 on ABC.
