'Grimm' season 5 spoilers: Nick and Renard face off; will Hank die in the season finale?

(Facebook/NBCGrimm)Network teases a shocking end to "Grimm" season 5.

It all comes down to this — the "Grimm" trying to take down Portland's new mayor and the whole police department if necessary in a bid to stop Black Claw and get his family back.

The two-hour season 5 finale of "Grimm" is upon us, and Nick (David Giuntoli), Trubel (Jacqueline Toboni), Hank (Russell Hornsby), and the others are in the fight of their lives.

The penultimate episode of "Grimm" season 5 will see Renard (Sasha Roiz) winning the mayoral election by a landslide, while Nick vows to kill him after seeing the erstwhile police captain claim Adalind (Claire Coffee) and his son Kelly as his family on national TV. Meanwhile, Hank finally uncovers the truth about Zuri's (Sharon Leal) involvement with Black Claw.

With Renard in such a powerful position, Black Claw seems to have the upper hand (and control of Portland), putting Nick and his friends at risk. This is clearly seen in episodes 21 and 22 when Black Claw makes a shocking move against the Grimm's partner that pushes Nick on the warpath. While Hadrian's Wall ramps up their investigation on the enigmatic Bonaparte (Shaun Toub), Adalind and Renard try to deal with their new situation and life with their volatile daughter Diana (Hannah R. Loyd).

The trailer for the upcoming episodes, titled "The Beginning of the End, Part I and II," teases that the finale is so shocking that they can't show anything from the second hour. That remains to be seen, but what fans do see in the trailer is shocking enough. The clip unfolds with Hank being attacked by an unknown Wesen who uses his elongated tongue to choke the detective. Diana is then shown smothering a woman using a red cloth. Nick and Hank appear to still be doing their duties as detectives as they walk into a crime scene. But Trubel telling them that "there's no one here to fight Black Claw but us" reminds fans that bigger things are at play here.

As the trailer trots out the age old cliché that all's fair in love and war, various scenes show Eve (Bitsie Tulloch) using her powers to pull someone out of a house; Monroe (Silas Weir Mitchell) woging, and Diana playing with two dolls and making them kiss. Meanwhile, her parents are shown coming together and kissing, implying that she has controlled them again. The clip ends with Renard and Nick fighting inside the Captain's office.

Unfortunately, the police department might not be the safest place for the Grimm to be now as the extended trailer shows several police officers telling Nick that "things are changing around here" before woging in front of him. It appears that Renard has already populated the police force with Wesen or Black Claw members.

The two-hour finale of "Grimm" season 5 will air on NBC on May 20 at 9 p.m.
