'High School Musical 4' news: Zac Efron, Vanessa Hudgens fans clamor for inclusion in the sequel

(Facebook/Zac Efron)Is there a chance for Zac Efron to appear on "High School Musical 4" despite his hectic schedule?

After it was confirmed that "High School Musical 4" is happening, fans of the two original cast members of one of Disney's biggest TV-movie hits, Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens, have been clamoring for the inclusion of the two in the upcoming sequel. However, it seems that the possibility for the two to take part in the show that helped them etch a name in the show biz industry is dismal at this point in time.

According to reports, the two are currently busy with their own respective commitments, hence, it is unlikely for them to lend their presence to the "High School Musical" sequel. Apart from the movie "Dave and Mike," which is showing next month, Efron has also just wrapped up filming the "Baywatch" movie, which is slated for a May 2017 release. He also starred in "Neighbors 2," which was shown last month.

In an exclusive report of Variety, Efron is said to be in talks for a possible role in Hugh Jackman's "The Greatest Showman on Earth" movie.

Hudgens, on the other hand, is set to star in the upcoming NBC comedy "Powerless," which is set in the DC Universe. According to The Hollywood Reporter, "Powerless" features average office employees who are on a quest for their own powers. It is expected to air in the 2016–2017 TV season.

It was in March this year when the sequel to the highly successful musical on TV was announced, and the release of which will coincide with the show's 10th anniversary.

"High School Musical is part of Disney Channel's DNA. It embodies all that we stand for. As a way of continuing to embrace that heritage, we're excited to announce 'the start of something new' as we launch a search for a new class of East High Wildcats to star in a fourth installment of the 'High School Musical' franchise," said Disney Channel President Gary Marsh via a statement then.

However, with the undeniably busy schedules of Efron and Hudgens, fans can only hope they still have time even just for a short appearance on "High School Musical 4."

The air date of "High School Musical 4" on the Disney Channel is yet to be announced.
