'House of Cards' season 5 rumors: Claire to mastermind Frank's death

(Facebook/House of Cards)Rumors claim that Claire Underwood will orchestrate the murder of her husband so that she can have a shot at the presidency on "House of Cards."

While the exact release date of the Netflix original series "House of Cards" season 5 remains unknown at this point in time, rumors claiming that the upcoming season of the American political drama will feature the death of Frank Underwood (Kevin Spacey) remain persistent.

Although there is a possibility for POTUS (President of the United States), Frank Underwood, to have a natural death in the upcoming season of the series, as he has health issues after all, it is said that he will have a bloody death in the hands of someone close to him. Among the many characters of the series, beyond the shadow of doubt, the most suspected character to carry out the murder of Frank Underwood is his trusted aide, Doug Stamper (Michael Kelly).

In fact, even Mahershala Ali, who once portrayed the role of the Remy Danton in the series before exiting recently, has said in an interview that, in the event that Frank Underwood has to be killed on "House of Cards," the best person to do it would be Doug Stamper. For the actor, Doug Stamper killing Frank Underwood would provide an interesting twist to the story.

However, rumors claiming that Frank Underwood's death may happen in the hands of his ex-wife, Claire Underwood (Robin Wright), are also becoming louder as it is said that she intends to become the next POTUS and will use Frank's death to gain sympathy votes in the future.

It is also said that Doug Stamper and Claire may connive with each other, in order to carry out Frank's death as it will also lead to Doug Stamper's rise to the vice presidency.

Will Frank Underwood really die on "House of Cards" season 5? If yes, will he die naturally or be murdered? If he is to be murdered, who will be the culprit?

Find out when "House of Cards" returns to Netflix for its season 5 next year.
