HTC One M9 vs. LG G3: One M9 has the better looks and hardware

There are very few smartphones with a premium metal body; and the HTC One M9 is one of them. Here is how the beautiful smartphone from HTC compares to the bigger LG G3 phablet.

Design

Comparing the design of these two devices, it is clear, even to an untrained eye, that the One M9 , with its shiny metal unibody and rounded edges is the better looking piece. It also has a fingerprint sensor which its competitor lacks. It comes in three colors, silver, gray and gold. As for the LG G3, it is a bigger phablet-sized device which has a plastic build with a metallic sheen giving it a premium appearance. As for colors, it offers several options including black, gold, white, violet and burgundy.

Display

The LG G3 is ahead as its bigger display has the same resolution as its competitor. It comes with an IPS LCD screen measuring 5.5 inches with a resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels and a density of 538 pixels per inch. As for the One M9 , it has a super LCD3 screen measuring 5.2 inches with a resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels and a density of 565 pixels per inch.

Specs

When it comes to hardware, the One M9 comes with a better combination. It is equipped with a Mediatek MT6795T chipset, an octa-core CPU clocked at 2.2 GHz and a PowerVR G6200 GPU. The LG G3, on the other hand, has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 chipset, a Krait 400 CPU with four cores clocked at 2.5 GHz and an Adreno 330 GPU.

Memory

There is a memory slot on each device and since they are similar, each can be used to add up to 128 GB of external storage. As for RAM, the 16 GB LG G3 has 2 GB and its 32 GB version has 3 GB RAM while the One M9 has 3 GB.

Price

The LG G3 costs $99 with a two-year contract while the HTC One M9 is currently only available through online retailers and is due to arrive in carriers shortly.
