iPhone 6 Plus vs. Nexus 6: Google's roomy phablet takes on Apple's iPhone 6 Plus

The iPhone 6 Plus proved to be the bestseller over the past year, but Google's Nexus 6 continues to put up a good fight as it provides better value for money. Here is how Google's whale-sized phablet, manufactured by Motorola, compares to Apple's iPhone 6 Plus.

Design

In terms of design, the Nexus 6 does not have much aesthetic appeal as it simply has a plastic body with a metal rim around its edge. However, despite the simplicity, many people have praised it for being ergonomically easy to hold. The iPhone 6 Plus, on the other hand, has the design edge, as it is made of an aluminum unibody and looks and feels just like its smaller sibling the iPhone 6. One of the biggest design differences between the two devices is that the iPhone 6 Plus has a fingerprint scanner which the Nexus 6 does not have.

Display

Comparing their displays, the Nexus 6 has a bigger and sharper AMOLED screen measuring 5.96 inches with a resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels and a density of 493 pixels per inch while the iPhone 6 Plus uses an IPS LCD screen measuring 5.5 inches with a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels and a density of 401 pixels per inch.

Specs

The iPhone 6 Plus comes with an Apple A8 chipset, a Cyclone CPU with two cores clocked at 1.4 GHz and a PowerVR GX6450 GPU, while the Nexus 6 has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 chipset, a Krait 450 CPU with four cores clocked at core 2.7 GHz and an Adreno 420 GPU.

Memory

Both the Nexus 6 and the iPhone 6 Plus do not have memory slots and so external storage cannot be added. As for RAM, the Nexus 6, comes with 3 GB, which easily beats iPhone 6 Plus which only has 1 GB.

Price

The 16 GB model of the iPhone 6 Plus costs $299 with a two-year contract while the 32 GB model of the Nexus 6 costs $249 with a similar contract.
