In an interesting turn of events, Apple iPhone 6 pre-order sales in South Korea, Samsung's home territory, are outpacing that of Galaxy Note 4.

According to a recent report by Wall Street Journal, both iPhone 6 models have received 10,000 orders in one minute, and shot up to 50,000 in the first thirty minutes.

Furthermore, analysts have predicted that presales of Apple's smartphones will increase to 100,000, which will clearly overwhelm the 30,000 units of Galaxy Note 4.

The South Korean market has always remained loyal to its local brands with Samsung and LG posting a combined handset market share of 85%, while Apple is at the fourth place with just 6%.

"But with Apple piggybacking on Samsung's large-screen strategy, there are concerns that Samsung will lose its only advantage, which has been its large screen sizes," said Lee Seung-woo, an analyst with IBK Securities in Seoul.

In less than two months, iPhone 6's rollout may have been the largest catalyst of mobile growth worldwide.

Since iPhone 6 and its larger sibling, iPhone 6 Plus, went on sale last September, people have been purchasing faster than Apple can deliver them.

During its first week, records were shattered when both models amassed a total of 10 million pre-order sales.

Holiday season is fast approaching, and competitors have been unwrapping their iPhone 6 killers just in time.

Google has released the latest flagship from Nexus, Nexus 6 by Motorola, the first smartphone that will run Android 5.0 Lollipop.

Samsung on the other hand, being true to their usual tactic of releasing a legion of handsets, unveiled Galaxy Note 4, Galaxy Note Edge, and is reportedly launching Galaxy S5 Plus powered by Snapdragon 805 chipset, which would make this unit the "fastest smartphone" in the world.

The iPhone 6 will begin rolling out in South Korea on Oct. 31, and it will be interesting to see whether Apple will finally takeover Samsung's home base.
