iPhone 6s News: home button malfunction and battery drain among common problems of new Apple phone

(Apple)iPhone 6s

Even though the iPhone 6s has been bringing in blockbuster sales for Apple it is clear that like previous devices, this year's device has a number of problems. Some of these are small while others are quite substantial, and users have had to return their devices; but so far, none have resulted in any recalls being ordered.

Malfunctioning home button

One of the major issues noticed this year was the malfunctioning home button, which resulted in the iPhone 6s overheating. Forbes states that this issue is related to the redesigned Touch ID on the device which is currently in its second generation. The current version allows for faster recognition of the fingerprint when users place their finger on the home button. With Touch ID being used for several important functions ranging from unlocking the iPhone 6s to authentication when, for example, using Apple Pay-- the use of the home button is increasing. So many were surprised when they depressed the home button for 10 seconds or longer, it overheated. However, all iPhone 6s units do not have this problem and those who have faced it have got their devices replaced from Apple.

Battery Drain

Battery drain is another issue which some iPhone 6s users are experiencing and as of now, Apple has stated that this is not influenced by the A9 processor which is manufactured by two companies TSMC and Samsung. Instead, it has pointed the finger at apps, and encouraged users to check the amount of charge being consumed by apps by navigating to Settings > Battery and turning off apps running in the background.

Frequent power offs

This problem basically results in the iPhone 6s shutting down frequently, but BGR states that it can be solved by resetting the device and starting to use it afresh.

Problematic 3D Touch

Users have been having problems with the 3D Touch of their iPhone 6s, and if they cannot solve the problem by ensuring that they are using it properly and the toggle switch governing it is turned on. Then they will just have to get their device exchanged for a new one, as this normally is a hardware issue.
