The iPhone 6s Plus is widely expected to rise to the top of the phablet heap this year, but its climb to the top might not be as effortless as Apple would want to think, as there are other similar-sized offerings, which also boast of great features including the LG G4. Here is how the two devices compare.

Design

The iPhone 6s Plus has a metal unibody crafted from 7000 series aluminum alloy which makes it sturdier than the 6 Plus released last year. The iPhone 6s looks and feels premium and it comes in four colors, gray, gold, silver and rose gold. It also has a fingerprint scanner incorporated into its home button. As for the device from LG, it has a plastic build and a slight "SlimArc" curve which extends from top to bottom. Its back panel is made from polycarbonate and it comes in gray, gold and white ceramic. There are also leather options available in a variety of natural colors.

Display

The display sizes of both these devices are similar but the LG G4 is sharper. It comes with a 5.5-inch IPS LCD screen with a resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels and a density of 538 pixels per inch. The iPhone 6s Plus, on the other hand, has an IPS LCD screen measuring 5.5 inches with a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels and a density of 401 pixels per inch. Additionally, the display of the Apple device has 3D Touch, which can sense whether the user is pressing hard on the screen or is using a softer touch.

Specs

There is an Apple A9 chipset in the iPhone 6s Plus and it is coupled with a dual core CPU clocked at 2 GHz. As for the LG G4, it has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 instead of the latest and problematic 810 version. It is coupled with a hexa-core CPU comprised of four Cortex-A53 cores clocked at 1.44 GHz and two Cortex-A57 cores clocked at 1.82 GHz along with an Adreno 418 GPU.

Memory

There is no memory slot on the iPhone 6s Plus, therefore users will have to make do with its internal memory for all their storage needs. The LG G4 has a version that allows for the addition of up to 128 GB of external storage. As for RAM, the LG G4 is ahead with 3 GB, as its competitor is thought to have only 2 GB.

Camera

The LG G4 has one of the best cameras around. It has a 16 megapixel version with optical image stabilization, a feature also present on the 12 megapixel camera of the iPhone 6s Plus.

Price

The LG G4 is the cheaper device and it is priced at $199 with a two-year contract. The iPhone 6s Plus costs $299 with a similar contract.
