Samsung released its phablets, including the Galaxy S6 Edge , earlier this year, to gain a lead on Apple's impressive iPhone 6s Plus. Here is how these premium phablets compare.

Design

The S6 Edge is way ahead the iPhone 6s Plus, when it comes to design. Its screen has dual curved edges that flow over its right and left side. One edge can even be customized to display five important apps, then in the next menu, five contacts can be added. Colors can even be assigned to the contacts, and they will light up whenever they call. The edge can display notifications, alerts and a night clock. Finally, the device has a fingerprint sensor, a metal frame and Gorilla Glass 4 on its front and back. It comes in black, gold, silver and white.

As for the iPhone 6s Plus, it uses 7000 series aluminum alloy for its body and it is similar to the material used for the Apple Watch Sport. There are four color options available, silver, space gray, gold and rose gold. The device also comes with a fingerprint scanner and has Force Touch capabilities.

Display

The S6 Edge has a super AMOLED screen measuring 5.7 inches with a resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels and a density of 518 pixels per inch. As for the iPhone 6s Plus, it has a smaller and less dense 5.5-inch IPS LCD screen with a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels and a density of 401 pixels per inch. The device from Apple also has 3D touch which makes use of the impressive Force touch technology.

Specs

In the iPhone 6s Plus is the latest A9 chipset from Apple along with dual core CPU clocked at 2 GHz while the S6 Edge has an Exynos 7420 chipset, coupled with an octa-core CPU comprised of four Cortex-A53 cores clocked at 1.5 GHz and four Cortex-A57 cores clocked at 2.1 GHz along with a Mali-T760MP8 GPU.

There is no memory slot on either device so external storage cannot be added. However, when it comes to RAM, the iPhone 6s Plus might have the same RAM capacity as the iPhone 6 Plus, which is 1 GB while the S6 Edge has 4 GB onboard.

Camera

There is a 12 megapixel camera on the iPhone 6s Plus while the S6 Edge has a 16 megapixel camera. Both devices have optical image stabilization.
