iPod Touch 6G release date: could be coming March 2015 with Apple Watch

Yet again, Apple has remained non-committal on announcing the release date for its sixth generation iPod Touch, leaving the tech company's loyalists out to speculate on it. Surprisingly, it is not even clear whether the company is continuing the production of its media players as the smartphones in the market seem to ably assume all the functions of the iPod. Some critics of the product line have even argued that the gadget's release was deliberately delayed due to the release of Apple's iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6 plus.

From 2007 to 2010, Apple released the first to fourth generation of the iPod Touch year after year until 2011 when the iPod Touch 5g's release was pushed to 2012. Since then, the product's loyalists are not even sure whether they should be expecting the Touch 6g. However, rumor has it that the iPod Touch 6g could be released in March 2015 together with the firm's smartwatch, the Apple Watch whose release is slated for the same period.

As usual, the specifics of any Apple products are only officially announced on the official release of the product. The noticeable flaws on the 6g's predecessor, the iPod Touch 5g, have however led analysts to speculate on the improvements and new features that Apple would package in the iPod Touch 6g.

The Touch 6g will boast an 8 MP rear camera with LED flash and face detection. It will also come with a 1.5 MP front camera. On memory capacity, the buyer will have the option to go for a 32GB, 64GB or 128GB model. An improvement on the processor is also anticipated, and it is expected to run a 1GHz A6 dual-core processor with 1GB of RAM.

It will also feature a bigger 5.5 inch screen with a 440 pixel-per-inch resolution and a longer battery life. Apple is also expected to avail the product in a wider range of colors compared to those available for its predecessor.

The Touch 6g is set to be priced at a figure relatively close to the Touch 5g. All said and done, the decision of whether the product hits the shelves as predicted only lies with Apple.
