LG V10 vs LG G4: LG V10 has the edge with better features and hardware

With several top of the line phablets in the market, LG is hoping that it has provided a lot of choice to customers who are looking for something extra in their handsets. Here is how the flagship LG G4 with its curved body compares to the LG V10 with its additional screen and dual front facing cameras.

Design

The LG G4 is completely made from plastic and has a slight "SlimArc" ergonomic curve running along its body. Its back panels are by default created from polycarbonate and come in gray, gold and white but there are additional versions created from leather that are dyed in a variety of natural colors and can be swapped out easily. As for the LG V10, it has a silicone on its back which is textured but its frame is made from steel and it is visible along its edges which gives it a premium look and feel. It also has a fingerprint scanner on its back panel and is MIL-STD-810G certified and is resistant to shock. In terms of colors, the device comes in white, black, beige and two shades of blue. Finally, there is an additional screen on the LG V10 which lies above the main screen, and it displays favorite contacts, apps, a music player and notifications and importantly these are visible when the main screen is off.

Display

The LG V10 is the bigger device and it has a 5.7 inch IPS LCD screen with a resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels and density of 515 pixels per inch, and above this main screen is the additional 2.1 inch screen which has a resolution of 160 x 1040 pixels. As for the LG G4 it has an IPS LCD screen measuring 5.5 inches with a resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels and density of 538 pixels per inch.

Specs

When it comes to hardware, both these devices are similar as each has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 chipset, coupled with a hexa-core CPU comprised of four cores clocked at 1.44 GHz and two Cortex-A57 cores clocked at 1.82 GHz along with an Adreno 418 GPU.

Memory

The memory slot on the LG G4 can support up to 128 GB of external storage, while the version on the LG V10 supports up to 2TB. As for RAM, the LG V10 has 4 GB while its smaller sibling has 3 GB.

Camera

The main rear cameras on these devices are similar, and each has a 16 megapixel version with OIS. However, the LG V10 has dual 5 megapixel cameras for selfies while the LG G4 has an 8 megapixel version in front.

Price

The LG V10 is expected to cost around $600 without a contract, while the LG G4 is available at $199 with a two-year contract.
