Microsoft is getting ready to introduce its latest flagship smartphones to the world. The company is slated to unveil the Lumia 950 and the Lumia 950 XL on Oct. 6 and the phones are touted to be much affordable than Apple's recently dropped iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus. It has also been described as having a classic but high-end appeal despite the polycarbonate body.

Preordering for the two devices is expected to be offered soon after its unveiling, with shipping expected to begin by Oct. 28.

While the Lumia 950 and the Lumia 950 XL are reportedly cheaper than the latest iPhones, it is still a bit pricier than other handsets that are being offered in the market. There's no official word yet regarding the handsets' price but it will allegedly include accessories worth around $225.

Consumers who are planning to get the Lumia 950 or the Lumia 950 XL will also be getting a docking station for Continuum, a wireless Bluetooth speaker and a wireless charger in the deal. The bundle is similar to what was also offered when the Lumia 930 came out.

The price for Microsoft's latest Lumia phones might come as a surprise for those who have gotten used to the company's more affordable handsets like the Lumia 535, the Lumia 435, the Lumia 640 and the Lumia 640 XL. However, the speaker, docking station and the rest are very welcome additions. The Continuum docking station, dubbed the "Munchkin," comes with 3 USB slots, with one expected to be a USB Type-C port. It will also have slots like HDMI and Displayport.

Aside from the accessories, the Lumia 950 will reportedly feature a 5.2-inch QHD display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 processor, 3 GB of RAM, a 32 GB internal memory that can still be expanded, a 20MP (PureView) camera and a 3000 mAh battery that supports wireless charging.

The Lumia 950 XL, on the other hand, sports a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor, 3 GB of RAM and a 5.7-inch QHD display with a 2560 x 1440 resolution. This phablet will allegedly have a dual-SIM feature and a USB type-C port.
