Miami Heat rumors: Heat may shop Chalmers and Andersen to keep Wade

With July just around the corner and players getting ready to reveal whether they will stay with their teams or try free agency, the Miami Heat are also facing a similar situation with their long-time superstar, Dwyane Wade.

It is no secret that Wade is extremely unhappy with the way the Heat management are handling his contract negotiations.

At 33 years of age, it is understood that Wade is asking for more money after all the financial and physical sacrifices he has made for the club.

It may be recalled that Wade had taken a substantial pay cut in 2010 in order for Miami to bring in LeBron James and Chris Bosh for their championship runs.

He did the same thing last summer when the management needed some breathing room to bring in Luol Deng from the Cleveland Cavaliers after James' departure.

Wade's peak years have all been sacrificed to make the team better and it worked – but now he finally wants what he believes is his due.

Wade has still expressed his desire to finish his career with the Heat, but his belief that he deserves more also cannot be overlooked.

There are other options for Wade outside the Heat, such as the Los Angeles Lakers, who appear to have the capacity to sign the star for the amount that he wishes.

The Cavs and Los Angeles Clippers may also be in the picture, but in a different way. Since they have their own cap issues, the most likely way of landing Wade would be through sign-and-trade - an option to which Miami is unlikely to agree.

However, there may be some sliver of light shining down on the Heat, as there are reports of the team trying to shop Mario Chalmers and Chris Andersen around – with the money effectively being diverted to Wade.

The two players are heading into the final years of their contract and are reported to make around $9.3 million combined.

There could be other different scenarios at play, but the Heat need to make their move before Wade's decision at the start of the new month.
