'NBA 2K16' player ratings: debate heads up around Stephen Curry and Lebron James ratings; top rookies' ranks revealed

No game has polarized gamers as much as the "NBA 2K16," especially when it comes to the player ratings. This year is no exception as fans have been going back and forth, debating on the ratings for LeBron James, Steph Curry and the top rookies even though the ratings list is far from complete.

A part of the player ratings appears to have been accidentally released on Twitter and show James having a rating of 94, the highest one so far. The post shows the roster of the Boston Celtics and states that the team wants to acquire LeBron, with his rating clearly seen.

This eventually started a debate rolling since his number doesn't seem particularly high, leaving some with the impression that he might no longer be the highest rated player in the video game. One argument posits that Curry, the Most Valuable Player of the 2015 season, probably has a higher overall rating to King James.

One explanation for this was the Golden State Warriors' point guard jumping from an overall rating of 89 to 95 last season. It was further pointed out that Curry's fellow cover mates, Anthony Davis, James Harden and Russell Westbrook, all jumped to a 94 rating so if that pattern holds, then Curry might indeed be higher than the King in the "NBA 2K16" player ratings.

However, some believe the opposite to be true as some fans say there will be an overall drop in ratings because of the newly introduced "philosophy" regarding the computation of player ratings. Therefore, some are expecting a drop in ratings for Golden State's golden boy.

While the ratings for both Curry and Lebron are unconfirmed, game publisher, 2K Sports, have already revealed the ratings of this season's top rookies. According to the NBA 2K16's players ratings list, it would appear that Stanley Johnson of the Detroit Pistons is the highest ranked rookie with a rating of 74. He is followed by Myles Turner of the Indiana Pacers with 73 and Cameron Payne and Devin Booker who both got a rating of 72.
