CBS's "NCIS" certainly aired an exciting episode 18 named "Status Update" that centered on Timothy McGee and his girlfriend, Delilah Fielding. However, the upcoming episode 19 will see the show go back to its investigative roots as a petty officer's murder leads to an even bigger investigation.

In "Patience", Leroy Jethro Gibbs and Anthony DiNozzo are assigned the task of finding the killer of a petty officer, however, the investigation takes an interesting turn when a lead to a 40-year-old US bombing is found during the process.

The 40-year-old cold case is now open, with a fresh lead pursued by DiNozzo and Gibbs. It looks like the NCIS team will kill two birds with one stone, since both cases are under investigation simultaneously.

However, Hollywood Hills' synopsis makes it clear that McGee is jealous as DiNozzo and Gibbs were secretly working on the airport bombing case for the last two years. Not only was cybersecurity expert unaware of the secret investigation, but according to Christianity Daily, he wasn't even briefed about it. Expect some drama as the episode's subplot follows McGee's jealously.

Moreover, it seems that the writers at "NCIS" are giving McGee's character a lot more depth since he has been the center of attention in the last episode. The writers are providing Sean Murray ample screen time and focusing on his personal life to a large extent. Last episode dealt with his love life as Delilah came back to Washington from Dubai for an investigation. In fact, a synopsis of episode 21 airing on April 14 also concentrates on McGee. DiNozzo is upset when he learns that McGee will be the new face of NCIS' recruitment arm, according to TVGuide. In the past, Murray's character didn't receive so many story arcs.

Watch an all-new "NCIS" episode on Tuesday, March 31 at 8 p.m. ET on CBS.
