The upcoming episode of "New Girl" will not only see Jess (Zooey Deschanel) and the gang, but also a few familiar faces from another Fox comedy series set in New York. Jess will head to the Big Apple and encounter Jake Peralta (Andy Samberg) of "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" in an epic hour-long crossover.
The synopsis for season 6 episode 4, titled "Homecoming," reveals that Schmidt (Max Greenfield) will be flying to New York in order to receive an honor at his old high school. Being the good friends that they are, Jess, Cece (Hannah Simone), Nick (Jake Johnson), and Winston (Lamorne Morris) tag along to support him. Along the way, Jess meets Detective Jake Peralta when she is tasked with getting soup from a deli that Schmidt likes. She then heads to 99th Precinct to meet Gina Linetti (Chelsea Peretti) and Captain Raymond Holt (Andre Braugher).
On the other hand, Nick and Winston have trouble with the subway, as they try to grab Detective Charles Boyle's (Joe Lo Truglio) attention. Meanwhile, Cece meets with Schmidt's mother (Nora Dunn).
It has been revealed that Jess is not a huge fan of New York because she's had some bad experiences in the city before. But according to executive producer Brett Baer while speaking to TVLine, Jess "is vowing to, no matter what happens, make sure that Schmidt has an amazing trip."
The promo trailer for the new episode has also been released and it teases Jake and Jess' first encounter, aka a "crassover." Based on the 40-second clip, a lot of fun is in store for viewers as Jake takes over Jess' car and crashes into a newspaper stand. Jess and the gang are excited to be in New York and Jess is determined to make the city bow down to her.
The episode is going to be the second part in a two-episode special with "Brooklyn Nine-Nine." It airs on Oct. 11, Tuesday, at 8:30/7:30c on Fox.
