Two more weeks and the comedy series "New Girl" will finally return for a sixth season on FOX. Zooey Deschanel revealed a crossover is coming up this season and there are already spoilers for the premiere episode.
In a recent interview on "Jimmy Kimmel Live," Deschanel, who plays the lead role of the series named Jess, talked about directing the premiere episode, titled "House Hunt."
In the premiere episode, Jess tries to distract herself to forget Nick (Jake Johnson), who arrives at the loft sooner than expected after spending summer in New Orleans. Meanwhile, the newlywed couple, Schmidt (Max Greenfield) and Cece (Hannah Simone), are having a hard time looking for their first home as Mr. and Mrs. Winston (Lamorne Morris), on the other hand, is making his long-distance relationship with Aly (guest star Nasim Pedrad) work.
In directing the first episode, Deschanel revealed that it's her first time directing an episode for a television series. She also admitted that everything went smoothly except that they had to fit the shooting schedule with Johnson's since he had to shoot a film with Tom Cruise.
The actress also revealed that there will be a crossover with another hit comedy series, "Brooklyn Nine-Nine." "It's such an '80′s thing to do, it's awesome," Deschanel said. "It's a double crossover! Basically the cast of 'New Girl' goes to New York because Schmidt is getting an award from his High School and that's how we end up in the midst of the 'Brooklyn Nine-Nine' world."
Also, according to TV Line, Megan Fox returns for the upcoming season 6 as Reagan in an eight-episode story arc. In season 5 finale, Nick revealed that he still had feelings for Reagan and he wanted to make things work out with her. Nick started to develop feelings for her when Jess was away. Reagan is expected to appear in the middle of the season.
"New Girl" season 6 premieres on Tuesday, Sept. 20, at 8:30 p.m. on ABC.
