With the launch of the OnePlus X in the UK and India happening simultaneously today the Chinese smartphone manufacturer has clearly indicated that it expects to see good demand for the device in these countries. The launch of the device follows months of rumors about it, which initially indicated that it would bear the moniker "OnePlus Mini" and that it would be a smaller device than the flagship OnePlus 2.

TechCrunch reporting on the launch of the OnePlus X stated that the smartphone would be available in two versions, Onyx and Ceramic. There is metal on the phone however, and it is present on its frame but the Onyx version will have black glass on its back panel while the Ceramic version will only produced in limited numbers. The white Ceramic version only has 10,000 units and will be manufactured as the process for creating it extends over 25 days. Also, the glass for the ceramic version has to be baked at a temperature of 2,700 degrees which further complicates the manufacturing process and makes it costlier.

Coming to the size of the device, as expected it will be a smaller smartphone and have an AMOLED display measuring 5 inches with a density of 441 pixels per inch, and it will be covered with Gorilla Glass 3. The main rear camera on the OnePlus X is a 13 megapixel version, but it does not have the ability to take 4K videos which is considered as a standard feature in most top of the line smartphones, while the front facing camera is an 8 megapixel version. As for the hardware on the device, it includes a Snapdragon 801 chipset and 16 GB of onboard storage. In terms of RAM, there will be 3 GB onboard.

Before the launch of the OnePlus X took place, there were rumors that the company would also be announcing a second mystery product. This was revealed to be the OnePlus Icons headphone which has a price tag of $49. This headphone is expected to arrive in the market in time for the holidays and come in gold and graphite colors. As for the pricing of the OnePlus X the Onyx version will costs $249.
