'Overwatch' DLC news: New characters and maps may be coming

(Facebook/Overwatch)"Overwatch" will undergo some changes to make the game more interesting.

"Overwatch" gamers can look forward to a better gaming experience as the game will experience some upgrades that will be introduced soon. Apart from the possibility of having new characters and maps in the game, "Overwatch" will also have an improved competitive mode that will make the game further riveting.

There is a good chance for those who play "Overwatch" to encounter new prototype characters in the game. However, whether these characters will be added into the game or not remains up in the air as Blizzard is yet to determine the plans for the said characters and wants to avert the possibility of disappointing the fans in the event something unexpected comes in the way.

As of this writing, though, two of "Overwatch" characters that are likely to be created into prototypes are Liao and Sombra.

Apart from adding characters, Blizzard is also in the process of developing new maps for the game. Reportedly, the maps are already undergoing a test phase, in order to confirm if they are good enough to be included in the game or not.

Meanwhile, IGN reported that Blizzard is set to launch "Overwatch's" competitive mode later this month. As the current competitive play of "Overwatch" does not land in the good graces of the players, Blizzard has decided to remove the layer progression system from its current said mode.

Once "Overwatch's" updated competitive mode is released, a player will experience his skill's rating getting directly in sync with his skill. It will also enable the players to be in the know of their skill ratings, as well as those of other players and the average rating of the teams.

"The downside of a system like this is (that your rating is) going to go down sometimes. But this is the sort of competitive system that we think players who are attracted to competitive play really want," Jeff Kaplan, "Overwatch" director said in a YouTube video.

Apart from new characters, maps, and an updated competitive mode play, Blizzard is also set to announce "Overwatch's" new features such as extended spectator mode, improvements on "Play of the Game," custom games, and a new server browser for the game.
