After it was rumored that "Pirates of the Caribbean 5" will cast the spotlight on Orlando Bloom's Will Turner character and his relationship with his son, new rumors now claim that the production has backpedaled and will shift the focus of the movie back on Johnny Depp's Jack Sparrow.

According to reports, the decision to make the story of "Pirates of the Caribbean 5" revolve around Depp's character once more is that fans have been clamoring for it and the said movie franchise has been quite synonymous to Depp. Fans have, reportedly, pointed out that much of the success of the past "Pirates of the Caribbean" movies can be attributed to Depp as he is a box-office hit maker.

On the other hand, Bloom still needs to prove his box-office worth.

However, it is also believed that the box-office charm of Depp is waning. Proof to this is the lukewarm response of the public to his "The Lone Ranger" movie shown a few years back.

The movie only raked in $260,502,115 as its worldwide gross, based on the records of Box Office Mojo.

Allegedly, "The Lone Ranger's" underwhelming box-office performance is the reason why the production is having second thoughts of making Depp's Captain Jack Sparrow the central character in the movie, prompting them to arrive at a decision to have Bloom's Will Turner character to be the lead instead.

However, the news of Bloom's Will Turner character being the center of "Pirates of the Caribbean 5" is no new news as this piece of information was revealed by Bloom himself in an interview back in December 2014.

"Basically they want to reboot the whole franchise, I think, and do something with me and the relationship with my son," said Bloom in his interview with IGN.
