'Pokemon Sun and Moon' rumors: Over 10 new 'Pokemon' expected

"Pokemon Sun and Moon" continues to be on the top of most 3DS owners' wish lists, as a new iteration of the franchise is always worth celebrating. This is why it might be surprising to hear that there could only be 10 or so new "Pokemon" in the upcoming game.

During the new trailer's reveal, "Pokemon" series director Junichi Masuda was asked how many new creatures would be in the game, and Masuda said there would be more than 10.

Fans shouldn't panic, though, because he probably said it in a joking manner. Rest assured that there will probably still be 100 or more new "Pokemon" that will be introduced in "Pokemon Sun and Moon." It can be recalled that the franchise is known for introducing a hundred or so new "Pokemon" in each new game. In this case, the same could be inferred for the upcoming game, especially since the company is celebrating its 20th anniversary.

However, if indeed only 10 new "Pokemon" would be introduced in the upcoming game, gamers should be compensated through the story like providing a completely different adventure, especially since Nintendo and Game Freak did something similar with "Pokemon Black and White 2." The pair of DS games is set after the events of "Pokemon Black and White," with only a few new legendary "Pokemon" added to the adventure. What the games lacked in new creatures was made up for with new towns and scenarios, expanding the game's storylines.

In related news, while there hasn't been an official release of the new "Pokemon" lineup or how many new ones specifically, one YouTuber by the name of Eryizo has been posting videos of possible starter "Pokemon" for the upcoming game. This greatly helps keep fans preoccupied until probably E3, and hopefully by then, there should be a final list of how many new "Pokemon" will be added to the game.
