'Power Rangers' release date, update: New posters reveal Zords; film has panel in NYCC

A new batch of promotional materials was released for the upcoming film, "Power Rangers." The new posters showed the robots the team will be controlling which are called "Zords." It was also revealed that the film will have a panel for the New York Comic Con (NYCC).

The latest posters for "Power Rangers" showcase the main characters on their Zords. For those who are unfamiliar with the term, Zords are dinosaur robots that are made of metal and are controlled and used by the Power Rangers to thwart their opponents. The whole look of the Zords was not revealed yet and only portions of their bodies can be seen in the images. This will keep fans excited and wanting to learn more about the upcoming film.

Lionsgate will also have a panel in the NYCC in order to promote "Power Rangers" and "John Wick: Chapter 2" at the same time. The event will take place at The Theater at Madison Square Garden on Saturday, Oct. 8 at 2 p.m. ET. New footage from the film will be presented during the panel and a Q&A session will also take place.

The actors who will take on the role of the male Power Rangers are Dacre Montgomery, Ludi Lin and RJ Cyler who are respectively the Red, Black and Blue Power Rangers. Meanwhile, the two girls are Naomi Scott and Becky G as the Pink and Yellow Rangers. Other actors who are also part of the cast are Elizabeth Banks from "The Hunger Games" will be playing Rita Repulsa in the movie, while Bryan Cranston from "Breaking Bad" will be the iconic Zordon.

It has been mentioned before by the CEO of Lionsgate, Jon Feltheimer, that they are planning to make six more sequels. "Power Rangers" is directed by Dean Israelite, who also worked on the film "Project Almanac." The film is expected to premiere in theaters on March 24, 2017.
