'Prison Break' season 5 release news: Series set for its 2017 return as filming expected to wrap up soon

There is no stopping "Prison Break" from coming back to TV in spring next year as it has been learned that the well-loved series is almost done filming for its season 5.
News on the wrapping up of the filming of the series' upcoming season became public when the writers of "Prison Break" replied to a tweet of a fan asking how many days are left before "Prison Break" season 5 production comes into completion.
"We've got about a week left. We're not ready," was the reply of Prison Break Writers Twitter account posted last July 6.
In the same exchange of tweets, it has also been learned that filming for "Prison Break" season 5 was done in order of episodes, with two episodes shot per filming session, depending on the needed location.
Apart from the news that the series is about to wrap up the filming for its upcoming season, it has also been learned that the series is ushering in two additional female characters and other minor roles as revealed by the writers on their tweet.
"Prison Break" is set to return for its season 5 in spring next year after it was thought that Michael Scofield (Wentworth Miller) died at the end of its season 4 finale shown in 2009. However, in its attempt to revive the series, writers of the show resurrected the character by making it appear that Michael did not really die, after all, but had just been working for terrorist groups in the Middle East.
In May, Dominic Purcell, who is reprising his Lincoln Burrows character in the upcoming "Prison Break" season 5, figured in an accident while filming his scenes for the series in Morocco. As the injuries he sustained were serious and too evident, the production decided to include those in the story.
"I mean, it was a scene where I was running into the prison, and I felt this extraordinary explosion on my head that I'd never experienced. It wasn't like someone was slowly cutting my arm kind of pain; it was this sudden explosion. I dropped to my knees, and I was in shock," recalled Purcell as he told Deadline about his accident caused by a falling iron bar on the set of "Prison Break" season 5.
"Prison Break" season 5 is set to air on FOX in spring 2017 mid-season.
