'Prison Break' season 5 release date, spoilers: Michael Scofield returns from the dead; series to air in spring

(Facebook / Prison Break)Brothers Michael and Lincoln will be back in 2017 for another season of "Prison Break."

Fans last saw Michael Scofield (Wentworth Miller) and his brother Lincoln Burrows (Dominic Purcell) in 2009. Soon, the brothers will be back for one more round of action, escaping yet another prison in the revival of "Prison Break."

The limited series will air sometime in 2017 and there are now hints as to what fans can expect from the show. As already revealed in the official trailer from Fox, Michael is alive. It can be recalled that Michael supposedly died at the end of season 4, but it turns out that he's very much alive. However, Michael is nowhere near living a comfortable life. In fact, he is now imprisoned in the Middle East.

Michael also left behind a son, who has now grown big enough to question the whereabouts of his father but is still too young to understand what's going on.

Purcell has also been dropping spoilers during his recent interviews. In one interview with Deadline, he revealed that Michael is now connected to terrorists groups like ISIS and was framed then imprisoned. It will now be up to Purcell's character to save Michael.

The very core of the story – brother saving brother and escaping the prison – has been turned around this time. In the previous seasons, it was Lincoln who needed help from Michael to escape. In the revival series, Lincoln will be the one heading to the Middle East to save his brother.

The plot of the story has already been revealed but there is still some mystery saved up for viewers waiting for the return of the series. It remains to be seen what happened to Michael after season 4 and how he ended up alive. Fans will also have to stay tuned to find out if he ends up with his love Sara Tancredi (Sarah Wayne Callies), who has since moved on after believing Michael was dead.

"Prison Break" season 5 will return to Fox sometime in spring.
