"Resident Evil" has made its mark in the videogame arena as one of the most well-known third-person shooter games for all popular platforms. And even with a new release earlier this year, it seems that Capcom is far from done developing the franchise as a new "Resident Evil" is said to be currently in the works.

A certain "Umbrella Corps" trademark has been registered by game developer Capcom last July 7 at the Office of Harmonization in the International Market (OHIM). Fans of the "Resident Evil" series may remember Umbrella Corporation as the fictional biological technology company that is central to the game. And this new trademark has fans speculating about what Capcom is cooking up for the survival horror series as the file does not reveal too much.

SegmenNext reports that perhaps the only thing one can draw from it is that a new game may be developed for the Nintendo 3DS or smartphones. The site also speculates that "Umbrella Corps." may be planning a sequel to its least popular release, "Operation Raccoon City." But then again, there is also the possibility of the new  "Resident Evil 7."

Back in February, Super Data confirmed that "Resident Evil 7" will be arriving this fall. Because the said title was absent during this year's Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3), not much is known about the seventh "Resident Evil" title but gamers are hoping for a sort of "Resident Evil 4" or "Resident Evil 5" reboot.

Venture Capital reported last month that the title may hit shelves this October, around the same time "Halo 5: Guardians" is coming out. Rumors of Alice, a character created specifically for the "Resident Evil" live action films, joining the new game is already in the grapevine; as well as two more new female characters.

Capcom's latest "Resident Evil" title, "Resident Evil: Revelations 2" is still out in the market. And followers of the said videogame series can also look forward to the remastered "Resident Evil Zero" HD, which was featured at E3. It is set for release in early 2016.
