'Rick and Morty' season 3 release date, spoilers: premiere before 2016 ends; Beth and Jerry to divorce?

(Twitter/@RickandMorty)Beth and Jerry's marriage may end up in divorce in season 3.

Adult Swim network still hasn't announced the official airing date of its hit animated series "Rick and Morty." The creators have assured fans that it will come out sooner than their initial release prediction, which was a year and a half after the season 2 finale.

Fans have been patiently waiting for the release of "Rick and Morty" season 3. Although Mr. Poopy Butthole revealed in the season 2 finale that the series will return a year and a half later, which is supposed to be sometime in spring 2017, the wait could be shorter than expected.

At the Magic City Comic-Con early this year, creator Dan Harmon revealed that the series can most likely premiere before 2016 ends. "I think Season 3 is — we're targeting around the end of this year," he said at the panel. "You guys do realize we're at the beginning of this year?"

There are three months left before 2016 closes and yet Adult Swim has not announced the release date of the upcoming season. There are speculations that it may, after all, release early next year.

As the wait continues, curiosity for season 3 arises as well. According to reports, there are several theories like Evil Morty as the Rick from the other dimension, Krombopulos Michael coming back to life and saving Rick from the Galactic Federation jail, or Rick having lived as Morty before.

Meanwhile, there are speculations that Beth and Jerry will get a divorce next season after the seemingly endless arguments and problems together. Although it is only a rumor, Harmon's commentary in "Rick and Morty" season 2 DVD revealed a sign that the couple is indeed no longer in good terms.

Harmon said, "I thought that Jerry and Beth getting a divorce would be like Kenny being killed in South Park, like, when we first conceived the show... that it would never run out of shelf life that that was the kind of joke about like, oh all our parents were about to get a divorce."

More news and updates should arrive soon.
