'Rick and Morty' season 3 spoilers, air date: Rick to fight off the strongest villain yet

(Facebook/RickandMorty)"Rick and Morty" season 3 is rumored to return in the latter part of 2016.

The new installment of "Rick and Morty" is promised to be the best of them all, with a lot of surprises coming from the grandparent-grandson power duo. Recent spoilers claim that Rick will be facing the meanest of all villains in season 3.

As per IB Times, Rick will still be a detainee in the Galactic Federation Prison, where he will be encountering "a nasty prison general." Later on, Rick will reportedly escape from jail, but it remains unsure if he will get help from Morty. His grandson has been doing his best to track him down ever since he got nabbed last installment. Speculations even claim that Morty will be hiring a private investigator just to locate Rick. If Rick manages to get out of prison, fans can expect that Morty has something to do with it, one way or another.

Meanwhile, writer Mike McMahan reportedly asked the fans to have more patience while waiting for season 3. He promised that it would be worth the wait since everyone has been working hard to deliver only the best. This sparks speculations that season 3 will be released at the end of 2016.

Showrunner Dan Harmon previously shared that they were taking things slow because they were meticulously checking every episode. He also assured the show's followers that the new installment would not disappoint.

"I watched the thumbnail animatic of Episode 304 and I was ready to move forward with it and Ryan [Ridley] said 'we're not satisfied with it' and we were already behind schedule. They have to bear the brunt of the schedule, they have to work weekends. They are the ones that wanted to do it. There's a weird higher calling there and it's not an endless perfectionism because you know when something finally clicks and you go 'this is a good episode of TV,'" Harmon elaborated (as per Cinema Blend).
