The premiere of the seventh installment of the iconic "Star Wars" franchise, "Star Wars: The Force Awakens," is only a few months away. Already the excitement for the upcoming theatrical release is palpable. Thankfully for the series' generations upon generations of fans, the production has been more than generous in providing teasers for the highly anticipated debut.

Last Oct. 10, Kathleen Kennedy, president of LucasFilm, officially went on the record to describe a new female character in the franchise named "Ren." According to Kennedy, one scene would involve Ren being outnumbered by several storm troopers, seemingly defeated and boxed-in. Unfortunately for her supposed captors, there is more to Ren than what meets the eye.

"Completely surrounded by Stormtroopers with blasters and Knights of Ren with lightsabers, she seems to be totally outnumbered. Unfortunately for her enemies, though, they've made a big mistake: it's not about the strength of the weapon, but the strength of the warrior that wields it." Explained Kennedy as reported by Movie Pilot.

The identity of "Ren" remains a mystery; however, Star Wars fanatics have since claimed that the new female character might be related to Leia and Luke Skywalker. Neither LucasFilms nor Disney have confirmed or denied the rumors.

More recently, John Boyega, the young actor who has been tapped to play another new addition to the franchise, officially unveiled the latest poster for "Star Wars: The Force Awakens." The poster posted on his instagram update highlights a young woman totting what seems to be a lightsaber hybrid. Han Solo, Princess Leia and Boyega's character himself, Finn, are also prominent in the latest promotional image.

"Proud to introduce the official Star Wars: The Force awakens poster. Many years have passed and now a new journey begins #soproud#december18 #Haveyoufeltit"

"Star Wars: The Force Awakens" is scheduled to debut on Dec. 18 nationwide.
