'Tekken 7: Fated Retribution' release date, news: Akuma's purpose revealed; arcade version release gets pushed back to July

(Facebook/tekken)Akuma teaser for the upcoming expansion "Tekken 7: Fated Retribution"

Many fans were shocked when they found out that Akuma, a character from the popular fighting game franchise "Street Fighter," was crossing over to another famous game with the same genre, "Tekken 7." With that in mind, some are even wondering what exactly his role is in the first expansion of the recent IP installment, dubbed as "Fated Retribution."

According to the trailers, Akuma will play a vital role in the Mishima plot as a missing link to the bloodline. As for how he got involved in the whole mess, it appears like the half human, half demon character is indebted to Kazumi Mishima, the wife of Heihachi Mishima and mother of Kazuya Mishima.

That said, Akuma was asked by Kazumi to end the feud between the two power hungry villains, Heihachi and Kazuya, and finally cut the bloodline of the family. However, though, Jin Kazama, the son and grandson of Kazuya and Heihachi, respectively, also has the same quest as Akuma. With that in mind, crossing paths between the two saviors would appear inevitable. Unfortunately, there is still no indication if these two will become enemies as Jin has a different way of how to deal things than Akuma.

Meanwhile, in terms of release date for "Tekken 7: Fated Retribution," a new listing posted by the arcade company AM-Net on their website has suggested that the arcade launch for the expansion could take place sometime in July 2016.

The listing also mentioned an order deadline, which could indicate that arcade owners, probably the ones in Japan, can place their preorder for a machine with "Tekken 7: Fated Retribution" installed in it. The offer is expected to be available until March 18.
