Big changes are in store for "The Blacklist" when the series returns for a third season. Aside from the fact that Liz is now on the run with Red, the show's season premiere has been pushed back a week.

The NBC crime drama was initially set to premiere the first episode of season three on Sept. 24 but it was pushed back to Oct. 1 to make way for the two-hour opening episode of the "Heroes" reboot, "Heroes Reborn."

According to NBC Entertainment Chairman Robert Greenblatt, fans would prefer to see the extended premiere of "Heroes Reborn" during that time slot. But Greenblatt assured fans that despite the delay, nothing will change with regard to "The Blacklist's" schedule.

Greenblatt also shared the news during the network's Television Critics Association press tour that the changes made in season three of "The Blacklist" will "energize the whole thing."

"The trajectory of the story is great, because it's a switch-up from what the format has been," he shared before adding that "it's a different feel this year." Greenblatt also revealed that even though it's still early in production, he thinks the show is headed towards "a really fun, new direction."

The fun part might be debatable at this point but photos that Megan Boone, who plays Liz Keen, shared on social media hints to another intense season. In one Instagram photo, Boone shows her blood-stained hands while another photo shows her silhouette with a gun, standing in what appears to be a warehouse with bodies clearly seen in the background.

The 32-year-old Boone also showed a very telling photo of her and Red (James Spader) in police uniforms, suggesting that this is how they will evade the police. However, it would seem that they won't be able to evade" X-Men: First Class" star, Edi Gathegi, who has been cast as next season's main villain, Mr. Solomon.

"The Blacklist" season three will return on Oct. 1 on NBC.
