The upcoming season of "The Good Wife" seems to shaping up to be the most exciting one yet. With rumors and confirmations of the cast who will be included in the new series and those who will no longer be around, season 7 might be a different show altogether.

"The Good Wife", which first aired in September 2009, is a legal and political drama on CBS that focuses on the life of Alicia Florrick, played by seasoned actress Julianna Margulies. The show has followed Alicia in her transition from being a stay at home mother for thirteen years to pursuing her old career as a litigator succeeding in the aftermath of her state attorney husband's fall from grace.

The show, which was based loosely on the Eliot Spitzer sex scandal, has received various accolades from multiple publications, with some considering it to be the best drama on network television.

The end of season 6 saw a lot of departures from the show. Among the few who won't be back for the upcoming season are Will Gardner (Josh Charles) and Finn Polmar (Matthew Goode).

The most controversial exit, however, is that of Archie Panjabi leaving her beloved Kalinda Sharma character. There are rumors that Margulies and Panjabi do not share their characters' closeness off screen and are in fact witnessing some sort of a feud. These rumors have been fuelled further by reports that in the final scene featuring them was shot without both the actresses together.

Neither Panjabi nor Margulies have released a statement regarding the rumors. However the actress who played Kalinda had this to say about her departure:

"It was such an easy decision for me [say goodbye to Kalinda] because I had made up my mind, but when I actually left, and I listened to the reaction of the fans, I felt like I betrayed them."

It has been confirmed that British actress Cash Jumbo will be joining the cast. But show runners, Robert and Michelle King have specifically stated that Jumbo's character will be replacing Kalinda.

"I wouldn't say she's replacing Archie because she's irreplaceable, but we wanted someone who could fill that same interesting dynamic on the show without doing the same thing," said Robert in an article on TV Guide.

There is no official announcement of the new season's premiere date, but there are speculations that "The Good Wife" season 7 will be aired by September.
