There has always been tension between Patrick Jane (Simon Baker) and Teresa Lisbon (Tobin Tunney), and the 'The Mentalist' season 7 will further test their romantic relationship. The premiere of the final season of the series will force Jane and Lisbon to keep mum about their relationship as they investigate the homicide of an undercover agent.

The season finale of The Mentalist season 6 showed how Jane confessed his real feelings to Lisbon, and show creator Bruno Heller said in an interview that this might prove to be a hurdle for the two.

Heller describes Jane and Lisbon to be very professional and private, and a romance between them could complicate things.

"it makes things very difficult for them because they're both very private, self-contained independent people and have kept a tight control on their emotions at the job. And now they have this wonderful thing between them that they feel obliged to cover up," said Heller to Entertainment Weekly.

Heller added that though the two will try to cover up their relationship, they wouldn't be able to fool people for too long. When asked about the possibility of a wedding, Heller said that it might be a far-fetched idea, but it is not impossible.

"I don't want to give away too much. The season is very much about how do these two people become a couple and work as a couple and still survive as a couple," Heller revealed.
