The last episode of "The Originals" season 2 was aired only about a month ago, but teasers of the upcoming season 3 can already be found online. While some reports about season 3 are only speculations, fans were recently treated to a spoiler coming directly from the series' executive producer, Michael Narducci who revealed that "The Originals" season 3 would see a bigger nightmare of a villain.

"The Originals", which first aired on The CW in 2013, is an American supernatural show that is a direct spin-off of "The Vampire Diaries". The show follows the story of the Mikaelson siblings as they return to New Orleans, the city that they have built. The series has achieved relative popularity, having been nominated for several awards, with Joseph Morgan winning the "People's Choice favorite actor in a new series" award. "The Originals" has also spawned a webseries of the same name and several book adaptations.

While season 2 saw the Mikaelson siblings on the opposite sides of a palpable feud, a recent report claimed that the siblings would be better off preparing for their biggest threat in season 3 – Davina.

With Davina being appointed as the new regent of the witches of New Orleans, she is now in a position to exact her revenge on the people who had tricked her into resurrecting Esther instead of Kohl.

In an interview with TVline, Narducci elaborated on the storyline, saying:

"The spirits are going to have access to Davina. They're going to lend her their power and communicate with her about what's best for the people and witches of New Orleans. That's who she'll be an advocate for, and the Mikaelsons, some would argue, are not the best things in the world for the witches. That's going to put them at odds, assuming there's no larger threat coming for which they might have to unite against. There are a lot of different ways this could play out."

"The Originals" season 3 returns to The CW in fall this year.
