Alaric (Matthew Davis) is heading to New Orleans in the upcoming season of "The Originals."

As per TVLine, the next "The Vampire Diaries" character to cross over to the series is Alaric, who will come to meet Elijah (Daniel Gillies) and "deliver a priceless artifact." He is expected to appear in the premiere episode, but it still remains to be seen if he will show up later on in the show. Alaric is the fourth character to come to Klaus's (Joseph Morgan) world. Tyler (Michael Trevino) made the trip in the first season, while Matt (Zach Roerig) and Stefan (Paul Wesley) arrived in the city last installment.

Fans of both shows are curious on the potential crossovers, considering that "TVD" will be ending after its current season. It has been previously teased that some of the characters will join the Mikaelsons soon, one of them being Caroline (Candice King). She is said to be helping Klaus return to power while also bringing New Orleans back under the Mikaelsons'  control. It will be interesting to see Caroline in the same series as Klaus and Alaric. She is a former love interest of both men.

In fact, Klaus still affectionately calls Caroline "love." Although they have officially parted ways, she is still special to him. Alaric, on the other hand, is still getting over the fact that he and Caroline are not meant to be. She has already returned to Stefan but is communicating with him to raise their kids properly.

Meanwhile, executive producer Julie Plec has shared her plans to reunite the two supernatural worlds. After all, "The Originals" is actually a spinoff of "TVD."

"A thousand percent. One of my goals is to find really exciting and organic ways to combine the universe just a little bit, whether it's a flavor or something more aggressive. There are a lot of really wonderful people that I work with that I'd like to continue working with, so it's certainly not out of the question that we could find ways to integrate them into 'The Originals,'" the EP said in a previous Entertainment Tonight interview.

"The Originals" season 4 will premiere on Friday, March 17, 2017 at 8 p.m. EST on The CW.
