As "The Vampire Diaries" continues to air for its eighth and final season, more and more fans are hoping that a crossover will take place in "The Originals" season 4, especially as rumors keep emerging about some familiar faces appearing in the spinoff's upcoming installment.

It is not a secret that if there's one "TVD" character whom fans want to see in "The Originals," it would be Caroline (Candice King). She and Klaus (Joseph Morgan) have a very deep past, and though Caroline is already with Stefan (Paul Wesley) and the two will soon tie the knot, it isn't altogether impossible for Caroline to drop by New Orleans.

As fans know, "The Originals" season 4 will see a time jump that would set the spinoff in line with the events taking place in Mystic Falls. Recent reports suggest that it is indeed the perfect time for Caroline to re-enter Klaus' life again since he is locked up under the curse of Papa Tunde's blade and needs help to be free.

On the other hand, fans shouldn't be very excited about a "Klaroline" reunion since "TVD" is focusing on Stefan and Caroline's preparations for their marriage while Klaus will most likely concentrate on catching up with his now grown-up daughter, Hope (Summer Fontana).

It is best to hope that Caroline will come over to New Orleans just for the sake of helping Hayley (Phoebe Tonkin) and Hope get Klaus out of his pain-induced coma and there will be no other romantic strings attached. Who knows, Stefan might want to offer help as well.

The crossover was confirmed by none other than showrunner Julie Plec herself. When asked by Entertainment Tonight if there is a chance that anyone from Mystic Falls will appear in New Orleans when "The Originals" season 4 arrives, Plec said: "A thousand percent. One of my goals is to find really exciting and organic ways to combine the universe just a little bit... There are a lot of really wonderful people that I work with that I'd like to continue working with, so it's certainly not out of the question that we could find ways to integrate them into The Originals."

The CW has yet to announce an official premiere date for "The Originals" season 4.
