Following the shocking events that left fans wondering what's next for the Mikaelsons, new rumors are suggesting that a "Vampire Diaries" crossover may take place in "The Originals" season four.

New reports suggest that fans are looking forward to the reunion between Klaus (Joseph Morgan) and Caroline (Candice King). As fans know, the two were former lovers but things took a complicated turn and Caroline is now with Stefan (Paul Wesley), while Klaus is now in love with Hayley (Phoebe Tonkin).

There's also been a confrontation between Stefan and Klaus, wherein the former told the Mikaelson head that he hopes to never see him again. Klaus, on the other hand, assured Stefan that he won't bother them if he sees that Stefan is taking good care of Caroline. 

However, Klaus is in big trouble. As fans saw on the previous season of "The Originals," he was put in a pain-induced coma when Marcel (Charles Michael Davis) buried Papa Tunde's blade on Klaus' chest. It is unclear how he will ever awaken from the trance and if someone from his brood will be able to help him, considering that Freya (Riley Voelkel) has made a way for the rest of the Mikaelson siblings to stay alive by linking their lives to Klaus. This only means that at this point, not even his siblings can save him since they are all relying on him to stay alive.

Hayley is busy looking for a cure for the Mikaelsons, but it has yet to be revealed if she will find a way to get them out of their suffering. Hope (Summer Fontana) will debut her powers in "The Originals" season four but will her skills be enough to get her entire clan out of the curse?

One possible but still hazy twist is Hayley's trip to "The Vampire Diaries" territory so she can ask help from Damon (Ian Somerhalder) and Enzo (Michael Malarkey). Unfortunately, Damon and Enzo can't really help the Mikaelsons at the moment since they're also cursed and are far from reality.

The only way, then, is for Hayley to get some sort of assistance from Caroline and Stefan. Bonnie (Kat Graham) has no powers so it is also somehow impossible for her to be of help. If Stefan and Caroline agree to help the Mikaelsons, this could mean the most anticipated crossover between the intertwined stories in "The Vampire Diaries" and "The Originals."
