(The CW / Facebook)

In Damon's continuing descent towards a very dark path, Stefan has decided to put it upon himself to save his brother while having to battle his own issues. Stefan has also been very understanding of his brother's actions given everything he has been through.

In the previously aired "Things We Lost in the Fire," Damon's post-hell hallucination caused him to do despicable things. In the end, he decided to burn off Henry's spirit that had been tormenting him but only to realize later that it was Elena's coffin that he burned and that he has killed Elena.

Truly devastated and haunted by what he has done, he tells Stefan that he believes his true self to be dark. Stefan, unaware of what has happened, tells him, "You're also my brother. I'm not going to give up on you. Not now, not ever."

In the upcoming episode titled "Postcards From the Edge," Damon continues to be reckless and out of control. "I wanna feel every moment of this miserable life," he says on the promo trailer.

Damon continues to be under Julian's reckless influence and introduced into a world of street fighting. As he feels that he has lost on the only person he truly cared about, Damon will finally succumb to his destructive nature.

Stefan refuses to give up on his brother and continues to fight for him. However, once he finally learns about Damon's reason for his descent, Stefan is rightfully angered and even punches his brother. Will this be the last straw for Stefan and will Damon finally hit rock bottom?

Meanwhile, Caroline will be experiencing very dangerous complications brought about her supernatural pregnancy. She will be forced to turn to Valerie for help. Also in the episode, Bonnie, Nora and Mary Louise will join forces to track down Rayne, a ruthless vampire hunter who has seemingly reemerged.

Be sure to catch "Postcards From the Edge" airing on Feb. 12.

Season 7 of "The Vampire Diaries" airs every Friday at 8 p.m. ET on The CW.
