It's the time of the "MidAmeriCon II" and author George R.R. Martin has confirmed his attendance. While "The Winds of Winter" is not part of his declared agenda, many of the fans continue to hope the release date of the book will be announced.

Martin has already shared many chapters of the book — be it on the website or during live reading activities. Based on the chapters that have been shared, it is believed by some that the book is already finished.

Since Martin confirmed his participation in the event, expectations about "The Winds of Winter" release date announcement have been high. However, the head of marketing and communications of HarperCollins Australia, Jaki Arthur, has revealed the book will not be part of the event.

While he did not comment further on the status of the book, he did say that Martin is doing his best to complete the long awaited-book. Arthur also assured that when "The Winds of Winter," is done, they will make an immediate announcement.

In an interview with The Kansas City Star, the author revealed, "I'm a slow and painstaking writer — always have been." He continued to share that there are good and bad days. On good days, stories come out, while he resorts to reading emails when he struggles on bad days.

Meanwhile, Martin took to his Live Journal to share his official public appearances during the Worldcon. He also stated that he will be very much present during the event to attend the parties, check on other scheduled events, go around the venue, and just enjoy the place.

He asked not to be asked for autographs and photographs during chance encounters as he has already allotted seven hours for this. He explained, "The rest of the time I just want to enjoy the con like everyone else."

For now, it looks like readers just have to wait and hope that the book will be out soon.
