Top 3D Touch features of the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus

(Apple)3D Touch features

Apple's iPhone 6s and 6s Plus might not be the first smartphones with Force Touch technology but they certainly come with a number of unique features. These features, which are listed below, are available either via apps, which support 3D Touch, or directly from the home screen of the device.

3D Touch, which senses how much pressure a user is applying to the screen with their fingers, can be first seen in the home screen of the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus. On the home screen, as soon as the user lightly presses on an icon, the rest of the screen will become blurred and a specific shortcut for that particular app will pop up. This, as 9to5Mac states, allows different options to be displayed. This gives users easy accesibility to apps. For example, if a user presses on the camera icon, they can swiftly move into the selfie option in the Quick Actions menu.

Once the user is within a specific app on the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus, which are 3D Touch enabled, they can perform a number of additional actions, including "peeking" into a message or an email by just using a softer touch. They can then choose to "pop" open the entire email or message and reply to it by using a harder touch. These functions are already available within the Messages App and Email app.

Users can even open the multitasking view while using a harder touch and swiping in from the left hand side of the screen. This does away with the need for tapping twice on the home button of the iPhone 6s.

Also, the keyboard in certain apps now has the ability to act like a track pad and it can be used to select text that is displayed on the screen. Finally, using the 3D Touch while in the camera app can see photos taken as a video with the Live Photos option.
