'Wayward Pines' season 3 spoilers: feature evolution of the Abbies

(Facebook/Wayward Pines)What will the Abbies evolve into in "Wayward Pines" season 3?

While it's true that "Wayward Pines" hasn't been renewed for a third season yet, there are now various theories and speculations as to what its possible plot may be when it returns to the small screens for its next season.

According to reports, one particular scene in the season 2 finale of "Wayward Pines" may have already hinted as to what viewers can expect from the M. Night Shyamalan-produced series as the scene in reference shows an Abby holding a baby that looks pretty much like a human. With this, it is now speculated that "Wayward Pines" season 3 may feature the evolution of the Abbies.

Bolstering the speculations that the Abbies will evolve in the upcoming season of the said series was the earlier statement of "Wayward Pines" executive producer Blake Crouch in an interview, saying that evolution is pretty much an integral part of the series.

"Look, Wayward Pines is very focused on the idea of human evolution and humans evolved into Abbies, but that does not have to be a static thing. It's continuing, even in the course of our show. Evolution has always pushed forward, and (the scene) suggests that the Abbies are changing also. The Abbies will evolve into something else. And we wanted to just drop the notion that perhaps when these residents of Wayward Pines emerge from the pods, they're going to find a very different world than the ones they left behind," Crouch explained in an interview with Entertainment Weekly some months back.

However, Crouch's statements have been interpreted in more ways than one. While there are some who think that "Wayward Pines" may feature humans and Abbies learning to deal with each other's existence, there are also those who opine that it can mean that the future of humankind will be bright. There are also those who believe that "Wayward Pines" season 3 may feature the residents of Wayward Pines being overpowered by a new species without them knowing it.

However, at this point in time, everything said about the possible plots of "Wayward Pines" season 3 is nothing but a speculation that may or may not happen at all and can only be confirmed once the season 3 of the series starts airing.

Meanwhile, according to other reports, no less than CEO of FOX Dana Walden has said that there is a big possibility for "Wayward Pines" to be renewed for another season.
