'X-Men: Apocalypse' updates: director Bryan Singer shares new pics, gives fans sneak peek at Angel and some costumes

There was a time when all fanboys and fangirls can do is sit around and wait for their most-awaited movies to come out. These days, though, people from the production team — directors, no less — have a way of feeding fan clamors through social media. Taking his turn this week is "X-Men: Apocalypse" director, Bryan Singer.

Singer had been very active as of late on Instagram, teasing fans of the "X-Men" franchise about what they will see in the upcoming movie, "X-Men: Apocalypse." And this week, he dropped not one, but two teaser photos to get fans more excited.

A few days ago, Singer posted what could potentially be the new "X-Men" costumes. They were behind frosted glasses, though, so they looked bit hazy and there is no way of telling for sure. The caption merely said, "Reminds me of #area51." So there is also the possibility that these three costumes would be the Four Horsemen's gear.

Everybody who has been following the news about the latest "X-Men" movie already know that Ben Hardy will be playing the winged mutant and horseman, Angel. Yesterday, Singer let everybody in on one of Hardy's scenes. He posted a scene of Angel in some random Berlin fight club. Previous rumors have already suggested that Angel will be recruited by Apocalypse in a fight club in Germany.

This ninth "X-Men" movie is a direct sequel to last year's "X-Men: Days of Future Past." It takes off some elements from the 1996 comic mini-series "Rise of Apocalypse" by Terry Kavanagh and Adam Pollina. Confirmed as two of the Four Horsemen are Angel and Storm.

"X-Men: Apocalypse" will see the return of Professor X (James McAvoy), Magneto (Michael Fassbender), Mystique (Jennifer Lawrence), and Nicholas Hoult (Beast) to the mutant-based film. To be introduced are the young Cyclops (Tye Sheridan), Storm (Alexandra Shipp), and Jean Grey (Sophie Turner). The movie is set to hit theaters on May 27, 2016.
