Christopher Chance, a.k.a. the Human Target, will come to Oliver Queen's (Stephen Amell) aid in "Arrow" season 5 episode 5. The comic character will be portrayed by actor Wil Traval.
According to the episode synopsis, one of Oliver's new recruits will be captured by Tobias Church (guest star Chad L. Coleman) and he will ask the help of Christopher to save him. It is not known yet how the two comic heroes met, but they are said to be old friends. Felicity Smoak (Emily Bett Rickards) encounters problems of her own when her beau Detective Malone (Tyler Ritter) joins the Anti-Crime Unit (ACU).
As viewers know, the previous season's events led to the death of one of Arrow's original teammates, Black Canary (Katie Cassidy), which led the other members to confront more personal issues. Although their engagement was called off, Felicity is the one left to help the Green Arrow. ACU has also been active in helping the Green Arrow in his fight and Detective Malone's involvement will make living a double life harder for Felicity.
Meanwhile, the trailer for the coming episode shows Wild Dog (Rick Gonzalez) being tortured, and Oliver tells his other recruits that they are not giving up. John Diggle (David Ramsey) is also shown talking to the visibly wounded Wild Dog who asks if he is being hypnotized.
Tobias is also revealed to know that the Green Arrow and Oliver Queen are one and the same person. One scene shows Oliver being shot and he seems to be down with his sister, Thea (Willa Holland), rushing to his side. While the trailer may suggest a death for Oliver, it may also be part of the team's plan to make other people in Star City think so.
"Arrow" season 5 airs Wednesdays at 8 p.m. on The CW network.
