American fans can celebrate Naruto's birthday via a new movie. And if rumors prove true, they can also look forward to a new live-action movie for the franchise.

It has previously been reported that the latest Naruto movie, "Boruto: Naruto The Movie" has been doing well in the Japan box office despite several leaks surfacing online. In fact, the film is said to have the strongest ticket sales performance out of all "Naruto" movies, registering gross sales of ¥2 billion (around $16.7 million) since its release. And the movie hopes to repeat that success when it hits American shores this October.

"Boruto: Naruto The Movie" will debut in select American cinemas this Oct. 10, which happens to be Naruto's birthday. This marks a massive celebration for all Naruto fans in the U.S., as the movie is also in celebration of the franchise's 15th anniversary.

Despite the movie being stuck for the meantime in Japan grounds, it is already being pegged to be a huge success in the US. So huge in fact that there are already rumors of a live movie adaptation by Lionsgate.

Word on the grapevine is that Lionsgate has started to set the stage for filming of a live-action Naruto movie. Acting as producers via Arad Productions are Avi Arad and son Ari, with Erik Feig, Kelly o'Malley, and Geoff Shaevitz overseeing production for Lionsgate. A director has even been tapped, and it is Michael Gracey.

It is unclear though if the movie in talks is "Boruto: Naruto The Movie." What's sure is that the production studio is now in negotiations to earn the film rights for Masashi Kishimoto's manga. The manga revolved around Naruto, who wanted to be a Hokage, the village ninja and protector. From a one-shot issue, it spawned a weekly serial, various animes, novels and even video games.

If the deal pushes through, it will be the first time that the story gets a live action film.
