'Chicago Med' episode 18 spoilers: Rhodes conflicted after request from mentor in season finale 'Timing'

(NBC)Dr. Rhodes deals with a difficult request in the final episode of the season.

Dr. Rhodes faces a personal crisis that will affect him professionally and personally in the season finale of "Chicago Med."

In the upcoming episode titled "Timing," Dr. Downey will be rushed to the ER after suffering complications from liver cancer. Rhodes attends to his mentor, and after doing some tests, he finds out that the cancer has spread to the brain.

Downey reaches out to Rhodes and asks him to end his suffering. He says that he has left instructions that will lead to his death, but following these orders will likely lead to criminal consequences for Rhodes. He initially refuses the request but remains conflicted with how to treat his mentor.

On the other side of the Emergency Department, Dr. Halstead and April treat a disorderly patient. After attending a game, he got into a fight with a stranger rooting for the opposing team. The patient appears to be drunk, and as he becomes aggressive, he knocks down April. While April appears to have been hurt, what she will learn after the incident may prove to be life-altering.

The other figures of the Chicago Med ED will also find themselves in life-changing situations in this thrilling season finale.

While Dr. Manning finds her past catching up with her, Sarah becomes conflicted about her future. As graduation day looms, she is still unsure about her chosen career path. Meanwhile, Chief Goodwin is forced to deal with personal issues, but despite everything, will find herself not backing down from any challenge. On the other hand, Dr. Charles encourages Dr. Choi to turn to an unlikely source to help deal with his trauma.

The upcoming episode will also see the arrival of a familiar face. Jeff Clarke, a former firefighter from "Chicago Fire," is now a fourth-year med student. He will arrive at the hospital to do his emergency department rotation. His story arc is also set to continue for multiple episodes in season 2.
